She was on winning teams all the way through college, where she played for the California Golden Bears and was noticed for her skills and dedication. She was the youngest player on the women’s national soccer team, and she was the first player chosen during the 2011 Women’s Professional Soccer Draft! She went on to win a gold medal in the Olympics, and led the team that won the 2015 FIFA Women’s Gold Cup.
If you’re wondering what it’s like to play on a soccer team, you should check out Alex’s series, The Kicks. The books are about a young girls’ soccer team, and the friendships and challenges they face. Alex Morgan says that the experiences in the books are inspired by real life things that happened to her and her teammates when they were younger.
Alex Morgan has worked hard to get to where she is now, and she’s only getting better! Her advice to kids who want to become athletes is patience and dedication. She says, “ … not every athlete is going to be able to start in every single game or be the best player in six months – it takes time and dedication.”
